JANUARY 12 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers

moonclouds_smallThe Moon moving through Libra activates some powerful aspects today. On one hand, we have the possibility of massive upheaval, and on the other hand we have a magnificent, mighty commitment to compassion. This is the day to write about your theme. Think about that BIG scene, maybe the one near the end, where everything is in a state of crisis and opportunity all at once. Try writing a draft of the most important scene of your novel, or write a statement to yourself about the overarching significance of your article. This is an extremely potent day. Make sure your writing reflects that.

JANUARY 11 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers

moonclouds_smallThe morning starts with us wanting to fix things. It’s a good day for editing your writing. The Moon in Libra will give you the emotional balance to do work that may have previously seemed irritating. You’ll be able to see problems that were previously invisible to you. As Mars moves into peaceful Pisces this afternoon and the Moon sextiles Pallas, you’ll see patterns that you never saw before. With a little work, you’ll move your writing to a whole new level of coherence by the end of the day.

JANUARY 10 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers

moonclouds_smallWith Vesta conjunct Sun, quincunx Jupiter in Leo, our projects may seem overwhelming. We have the stamina to keep working, but it all feels like just too much work. Moon quintile Pallas gives us the ability to see the pattern and discern where we are going, and Saturn semi-sextile Ceres gives us the practical steps to take. But the writing may not feel like very much fun today. It might even make you irritable if you write too far into the night tonight. Consider this a passing phase. The outlook for tomorrow is much nicer.

JANUARY 9 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers

moonclouds_smallWhatever we’re writing this week, there’s a sense of collective healing about it. Today, a yod strengthens our commitment to that healing undercurrent. It’s not always an easy journey toward healing, though. It can involve upsets and difficult tasks. The Moon moving through Virgo allows us to be equal to those tasks and able to discern how problems can be opportunities. Today is about just doing the work. Don’t try to see the end goal. Just put one word after the other and know that it’s all working out for the best.

JANUARY 8 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers

moonclouds_smallThe Moon makes harmonious aspects to Pluto and the Sun in Capricorn favoring career building and marketing. Have you built your author platform yet? What about your resume or your freelance portfolio? It’s a very practical day as the Moon moves into down-to-earth Virgo and trines Ceres in Capricorn. Get those rational left-brain duties done today so that you can go back to dreamy right-brain writing another day. Later this evening, we are chafing against restraint. It’ll be best to shut down shortly after dinner.

JANUARY 7 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers

moonclouds_smallThis morning, write that argument scene. There is tension between old, traditional ways and the urge to move in new, individual directions. Use that tension to write confrontations between characters or articles about political oppositions. Egos are bloated today, and emotions are on edge. There is transformation or revolution in the air. If you were avoiding making any big changes in your writing project, you may have to face those changes now. It’s better to change willingly rather than trying to fight the inevitable.

JANUARY 6 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers

moonclouds_smallWe come out of a dreamy early morning with a renewed impetus to expand our writing. It’s a great day to work on character development. What motivates them? What holds them back? How can a character flaw early in your story become an asset later on (or vice versa)? How does your character reflect the larger world and theme of your story? If they don’t, maybe you need another protagonist. You don’t need their complete life story with all the details; you just need the relevant bits. Character development is work that is well worth the effort.

JANUARY 5 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers

moonclouds_smallVenus and Mercury in Aquarius gives our ideas a sparkle and our writing a graceful ease early this morning. Because Venus and Mars are also sextiling Saturn, we have the ability to be responsible and get some real work done. This afternoon, tension arises between impulsive action and our need to nurture ourselves. Write very early this morning, and then knock off around mid-afternoon and pamper yourself. Don’t push it this evening. It will be more trouble than it’s worth. And anyway, you deserve a break.
