We’re feeling expansive, but slightly muddled this morning. New ideas can have us going off at a tangent. Around dinner time, the Moon moves into Capricorn and we can start to shape all those new ideas into something concrete. Semi-sextiles to Mercury and Saturn can see us building some solid work by allowing us to focus on what’s right in front of us rather than going after new material. Despite being Valentine’s Day, it’s a good evening for editing. Underlying all this, a nice quintile between Venus in Pisces and Jupiter in Leo will allow romance to blossom. Today could be a series of epiphanies about why you write. It will be less about making a grand statement or exposing hidden truths, and more about just having a simple human connection with the reader. It will be more about the heart, and less about the head. There will be a feeling of freedom in these realizations that ignites your passion and opens up channels of inspiration. It will also feel easier to write. You don’t need to sweat bullets thinking too much; you just need to follow your feelings.

I’ve got to be honest, it’s going to be a frustrating morning. Half of you wants to express the great wisdom you know is inside of you. The other half is mired in cross-purposes and unrealistic fantasies. As the Moon conjuncts Saturn in Sagittarius this afternoon, your emotions could just shut down. You may even take a nap. It’s just not the best writing day. Sorry. On the bright side, this evening is great for avante garde playwrights or writers of tragicomic pieces or black comedy that takes an unblinking look at the human condition.

Mercury goes direct today, and, along with the Moon in Scorpio, gives us an intense push to get things done. Yet Mars is still doing a slow crawl through Pisces, putting our aim out of focus. We could get caught up in wrong directions today, and put too much effort into unproductive areas. The up side of this is that we may find a gem as we’re wading through the mud. Keep a loose focus, and stay alert to unique ideas that pop up out of nowhere. You may not be able to write them out fully, but keep them for later as they may come in handy.

The Moon moves into Scorpio and quintiles Pluto making for an emotionally transformative morning. Moon semi-sextile Saturn allows us to use this emotional depth constructively in our writing. We are unearthing uncomfortable social patterns and disturbing the status quo by revealing what has been repressed until now. This is less on an individual level, and more on a collective level. Journalists who are digging up dirt and exposing hidden misdeeds, will do well today.

The early morning is good for technical writers and science fiction speculators. Difficult, abstract and scientific concepts can be communicated in a pleasing manner for the layperson. Late this afternoon and evening, the focus shifts to writing about adventurous subjects and wild, dramatic scenes. Unusual innovations in medicine and space-opera style travel dramas are highlighted. Yet there is a need to make the writing real, even if it is set in a fantastic genre.

Looking at the asteroids, we’ve been in a situation where the inspiration (Vesta) is coming from Aquarius, a detached, innovative, airy, unpredictable sign. Yet we want to relate intimately to others (Juno) in a passionate, fiery, dramatic Leonian way. This is like a dry bonfire with lots of sparks that shoot up into the sky and fizzle out. Pallas in Sagittarius gives us the wisdom to see our direction, and Ceres in Capricorn rewards hard work. What this all boils down to is a corkboard full of notes and an outline, but difficulty putting the two together. Today, there’s a big focus on environmental or women’s issues.

You’ll be looking at the details today, but maybe some strange details. As Venus/Chiron sextiles Pluto, you could be thinking of heading off in a whole new direction with your writing. As the Moon enters Libra, you’ll be attracted to writing that makes you feel good, or what you consider beautiful and relaxing, even healing. It may not be considered altogether “normal”, but if it feels good to you, it will attract you. This evening this will all make sense. It will feel as if this new direction is somehow fitting, as if it was always there as a potential, yet never recognized until now.
