The spotlight today is on commitment. This can be taken in several directions. Either you can commit to your writing, say, by making a schedule and sticking to it. Or you may just be writing about a character who is dealing with commitment issues. The Moon conjuncts Jupiter in Leo giving romance writers a big boost, and Mercury quintile Neptune bursts open the doors to our creative imagination. Hold true to your vision today. You are not an aspiring writer. You are a writer. Period. Now go forth and write.

DECEMBER 10 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers
Pluto and Uranus continue their square to each other asking us to find exciting new ways to look at the structure of our writing. These aspects will last until April 2015. Coinciding with Jupiter retrograde, they scream out for us to find a way to balance freedom and restraint. Are you a pantser or a plotter? Don’t decide. Look at both sides and see the value in each. To top this all off, Venus, representing art and beauty, is straddling freedom loving Sagittarius and system defining Capricorn. The message is clear. We need to embrace both freedom and structure in our writing, to make it the best that it can be.
DECEMBER 9 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers
Tensions ease, and there is a feeling of forward movement today. Highly emotional or funny scenes can be written easily. At least you’ll get the emotional tone of the scene right. You may still need to edit it later, though, with Mercury combust. After dinner you get a surge of confidence as the Moon moves into Leo. With a quincunx to Venus, though, romantic scenes could go over the top into melodrama tonight. Concentrate on the internal feelings of the women in your writing and constrain any tendency toward the obvious or shallow. Dig deep into the basis of your female character’s attitudes and emotions to give depth to your writing tonight.

Jupiter turns retrograde today and squares Saturn. If you’ve been doing the needed structural changes to your writing projects, you will be rewarded. Now you can go over old material and see where everything fits in. Venus semi-sextile Saturn allows you to see the beauty in the structure. Where you were groping around in the dark, a beam of light now illuminates your path. As Jupiter retrogrades in Leo for the next four months, you can incorporate old material you may have thought was lost. Creative threads that were abandoned can now be picked up and woven into the cloth.
DECEMBER 7 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers
You could wake up with revolutionary techno-dreams buzzing around in your head. Over breakfast you could still be thinking about how those ideas fit into the big picture. By mid-morning, the Moon enters Cancer, and home and family issues take precedence for the rest of the day. You could be jotting down ideas about new technologies for use in the home. Mercury is combust in Sagittarius giving us big ideas but interfering with their articulation. It’s a day for thinking and making notes about those great ideas, not actually writing them.
DECEMBER 6 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers
You don’t get to access the fun today unless you accept radical changes in the structure of your writing. If you try to stick with your old way of writing or if you refuse to make those big revisions (you know are needed), you’ll be doing things the hard way. The Full Moon in Gemini wants to open your writing up to more drama, more romance, more vision. But you can only get there within a solid framework that allows you to expand without popping like a big balloon of hot air. Mars in Aquarius doesn’t want to be held back like that, but, sometimes, good boundaries can free you.
DECEMBER 5 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers
As the Moon moves into Gemini this morning and trines Mars in Aquarius, we are driven to write about broad social or humanitarian issues. The focus is on corruption, especially about the political will and commitment to address it. Journalists who write about these issues will hit an emotional mother lode in their readers. Crime and thriller writers can benefit from these aspects as well. Things lighten up this evening, as comedic writing is highlighted. Slightly off-the-wall and aggressive humor writing wins the day.
DECEMBER 4 ~ Writing With The Stars ~ daily astrology for writers
After a dreamy morning, we wake up to revelations about new economic structures. Anyone writing about the economy will get some new ideas, but more research will be needed. There could be friction around publishing contracts or other financial relationships, but these ease up after dinner. Mars moves into Aquarius this evening taking our mind off business and sparking new visions about society and friendships. The day blows hot and cold, difficult and easy, up and down. You’ll feel like a boat in a storm. Just keep your eye on the lighthouse, where your writing sits on the solid ground of your plot structure or outline. Then just keep sailing toward that shore.
